Company Profile:

The power supply industry in Tripura was under the control of the Department of Power of Government of Tripura till 31st December 2004. The department of power, Government of Tripura was entrusted with generation, transmission, distribution and also rural electrification since inception. The Department of Power was a beneficiary constituent of North Eastern Regional Electricity Board. Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited started functioning from 1st January 2005 and has taken over the existing network and asset of Power Department for operating and maintaining the power supply industry in Tripura. The state has a population of 36.74 Lakh as per 2011 census and spread over 10,486 sq. km. in 8 districts comprising of 7 major towns and 875 villages. The state is predominantly agrarian with few small scale industries.

Consumer Base:

TSECL supplies electricity to 9.33 Lakh consumers across the categories in Tripura. There are about 8,32,221 Residential, 7,268 Agricultural, 74,568 Commercial 5,816 Industrial and 12,842 other consumers in Tripura as on March, 2021.

Load-shedding Free State:

Tripura is load shading free state since 2011.

Sources of power and provision till 2020:

Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited own generation from Rokhia Gas Thermal Project 3x21 MW (IC), Bamanura Gas Thermal Project 2x21 MW (IC) and Gumti Hydro Project 2x5 MW [one standby] all together available generation is about 100 MW. From Central Sector allocation of 286 MW and Private Sector allocation from OTPC 196 MW. In Central Sector allocation long term agreement with NEEPCO for 211 MW, with NHPC 12.93 MW and with NTPC 62.33 MW.

»Construction of 132 KV Double Circuit Transmission line from Surjamaninagar 132 KV Sub-station to Monarchak under SPA. Work is in progress. Line Length: 43.121 Km. Project Cost: Rs. 28.03 Cr.           
»Transmission Project (Phase – I): 132 KV Double Circuit Transmission line from Surjamaninagar to Rokhia and site development and Fdr. Bay at Rokhia under NLCPR. Feeder Bay at Rokhia completed and commissioned. Project Cost: Rs. 15.02 Cr. (revised).           
»Construction of 132 KV Single Circuit line from Ambassa 132 KV Sub-station to 33 KV S/Stn at Gandacherra under NEC. Project cost: Rs.13.64 Cr           
»Construction of 2X10 MVA, 132/33 KV and 2X10 MVA, 33/11 KV sub-station including LILO at Bishramganj, Sepahijala District, Tripura under NEC. Project Cost: Rs. 16.60 Cr. (revised).           
»Augmentation by capacity addition of 1 X 20/25 MVA, 132/33KV Txr and 2X12.5 MVA, 132/11 KV transformer with associated equipments at Mission Tilla 132 KV S/S, Dharmanagar under NEC. Project Cost: Rs. 10.80 Cr. (revised).           
»Renovation & Up-gradation of Protection System in the sub-stations in the State of Tripura under PSDF. Up-gradation of protection system in existing 7(seven) nos. EHV sub-station in progress. Project Cost : Rs. 31.05 Cr.           
»Up-gradation of 132 KV Surjamaninagar sub-station of TSECL into 400 KV in Tripura under NESIDS.

»Integrated Power Development Schemes (IPDS) at a total project cost of Rs. 203.02 Crores. Achievement as on March, 2020 is 11 KV Line – 273.90 Km, LT Line -303.72 Km,Installation of DT-340 No, 33 KV Line – 31 Km, Solar Panel – 31 Nos, Meter (Pre-paid) – 22500.       
»Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) Scheme at a total project cost of Rs. 74.12 Crores. Achievement as on March, 2020 is 11kV line (New)- 102.88 Km, 11kV line (Augmentation) – 188.30 Km, Distribution Sub-Station – 131 Nos, LT line by AB Cable – 224.66 Km, Service Connection – 2816 Nos.       
»Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) at a total project cost of Rs. 417.53 Crores. Achievement as on March, 2020 is 11kV line – 299.24 Km, Distribution Sub-Station – 498 Nos., LT line by AB Cable – 2502.48 Km, Service Connection - 135489 Nos., Solar Unit – 3601 Nos.       
»Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY Phase - II) Scheme at a total project cost of Rs. 358.64 Crores. Achievement as on March, 2020 is 33 KV Sub-Station-10%, 33kV Line – 5%, 11 KV Line (New) – 130.28 Km, 11 KV Line (Augmentation) – 18 Km, Distribution Sub-Station (New) – 103 Nos., Distribution Sub-Station (Augmentation) – Nil., LT line by AB Cable (new) – 90.28 Km, LT line by AB Cable (Augmentation) – 10 Km.       
»Setting up of Smart Customer Care Centre System on SaaS (System as a Service) basis at a total project cost is Rs. 17.58 Crores. Achievement as on March, 2020 is Award issued to M/s. Teleperformance Global Srvice Pvt. Ltd.on 18-03-2020.       
»Input based Distribution Franchisee at Mohanpur, Sabroom, Ambassa, Manu& Kailashahar Electrical Divisions. Achievement as on March, 2020 is Award issued to M/s. FEDCO and M/s. SAI Computers on 31-03-2020.       
»Online Transformer Monitoring System for 55 DTs under Electrical Circle No-I, Agartala at a total project cost is Rs. 47.25 Lakhs. Achievement as on March, 2020 is Award issued to BSNL on 25-03-2020.       
»Implementation of ERP in TSECL under IPDS funding at a total project cost is Rs. 18.16 Crores. Achievement as on March, 2020 is PMC appointed and Re-tendering for System Integrator is in progress.
